NOSPD, Valladolid District Hospital named 2023 SWM champions

The Negros Occidental Scholarship Program Division (NOSPD) and Valladolid District Hospital were named champions of this year’s Search for Best Office and Hospital Compliant with Republic Act 9003 or the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Act of 2000 Year 2.

The winners, adjudged by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Negros Occidental and the Provincial Environment Management Office, were announced in rites held at the Food Terminal Market Occidental Negros Function Hall on Dec. 21.

Other winners in the office category were Provincial Treasurer’s Office (PTO) — first runner-up; Technology and Livelihood Development Center — second runner-up; and Provincial Assessor’s Office, third runner-up.

In the hospital category, Hinoba-an District Hospital was first runner-up; place and Himamaylan District Hospital –- second runner-up.

Winners in the Search for Best Office and Hospital Compliant with Republic Act 9003 or the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Act of 2000 Year 2.

Special awards were given to the Provincial Administration Office for Best in Proper Waste Segregation; Philippine Rural Development Project — Most Environmental Friendly Office; Provincial

Human Resource Management Office —  Best in Team Effort; Mambukal Resort — Best in Recyclable Activities; NOSPD — Best Implementation of “No Plastic Policy”; Public Information Office (PIO) — High Level of Awareness on RA 9003; and FTMON — Best in Compliance to Over-All Environmental Protection.

Ignacio I. Arroyo Sr. Memorial Hospital (Isabela) was awarded Best Hospital in Proper Waste Segregation;

Valladolid District Hospital — Best Hospital in Recyclable Activities and Best in Implementation of “No Plastic Policy”; and Eleuterio T. Decena Memorial Hospital (Hinoba-an) —

High Level of Awareness on RA 9003.

Meanwhile, the Best Kapitolyo Solid Waste Management Educators (KaSE) Award-Office Category was given to Maricel Lastierre of the Assessor’s Office, champion; Kenny Greynor Gallo of NOSPD, first runner-up; and Marivic Belicena and Teresita Tionko of PTO; second runner-up.

In the hospital category, Rocky James Alegado of Ignacio L. Arroyo Sr., Memorial Hospital (Isabela) won the Best KaSE Award, followed by Abigail Hulleza of the Cadiz District Hospital.

The KaSEs also received individual special awards such as Best KaSE in Implementing SWM Innovations — Kenny Greynor Gallo of NOSPD and Rosemarie Lariosa of Hospital Operations Department; Best KaSE in Implementing SWM Corner — Maricel Lastierre of  Assessor’s Office, Mark Dela Cruz of Mambukal Resort and Marivic Belicena of PTO; Best KaSE in Implementing Effective SWM Recording System — Kyzzamar Cielo of Negros Occidental Comprehensive Health Program and Rocky James Alegado of Ignacio L Arroyo Sr., Memorial Hospital (Isabela); Best SWM Presentation — Kenny Greynor Gallo of NOSPD and Christine Belle Marfil of Information and Communications Technology Division; Best KaSE in Conducting Orientation on SWM – Jamili, Assessor’s Office and Minerva Rosario of Provincial Engineering Office; Best KaSE in Implementing Waste Diversion — Carolyn Alejo of Technology and Livelihood Development Center and Christine Dinglasan of PIO; Best KaSE Strictly Implementing the “No Plastic Policy” — Maricel Lastierre of the Assessor’s Office and Teresita Tionko of PTO. ||
