The provincial government of Negros Occidental started implementing yesterday stricter border controls including a 15-day restriction on non-essential travel to and from Negros Oriental.
Regulation of entry of Mabinay residents to Kabankalan City, Basay residents to Hinobaan, and Canlaon City and Vallehermoso residents to San Carlos City, shall remain in full force and effect, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said in his June 14, 2021 Executive Order.
The EO calls for limitation on mass gatherings to 30 percent of the venue capacity, encouraging 18 years old and below to stay at home, and heightened inter-agency patrol at Negros Occidental borders.
Lacson also ordered the closure of all beaches, resorts, waterparks and similar recreational venues in the province from June 23 to June 25, in line with the feast of St. John the Baptist.
The governor warned that non-compliance of his executive order, and violation of the health and safety protocols issued by the Department of Health, will result to administrative and criminal sanctions under existing laws and regulations.
Based on the June 14, 2021 regport from the DOH-WV, Negros Occidental has additional 152 COVID-19 cases, bringing to 2,379 the number of total active cases.
Bacolod City, on the other hand, logged 1,949 total active cases, after 60 new cases was reported by DOH-WV Center for Health and Development on Monday.
The OCTA Research Group also classified Dumaguete City inNegros Oriental as “ area of most concern”, after it recorded 129 percent week-long growth of COVID-19 cases, and 69.85 Average Daily Attack Rate (ADAR) per 100,000 population.
Governor Roel Degamo has recommended the imposition of granular lockdowns of barangays in Dumaguete City with high number of COVID-19 active cases.
This developed as the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Dumaguete approved a resolution requesting a stricter quarantine status for the City.
Degamo said they will need about one million doses to achieve herd immunity. – GB
