The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office logged 321 total crime incidents last month in the province, with 240 declared as “solved”.

Forty-eight were categorized as “8 Focus Crimes”, including theft with 16 cases, murder – 13, rape – 8, robbery – 7, homicide – 5, physical injury – 4, and carnapping of motorcycle – 2.

There were 147 non-index crimes reported, and 119 for implementation of special laws, like the anti-drug, illegal possession of firearms, illegal gambling, and violence against women and children, among others, NOCPPO reports showed.

Of the 321 total crime incidents, 81 are still under investigations, the report added.

Meanwhile, the Victorias City Police Station has issued a warning against “scammers” soliciting funds for government projects using city government offices, as well as the name of police chief, Lt. Col. Roy Rodrigo Gutierrez.

The police dismissed it as plain and simple “scam”, and a way to besmirch the reputation of the Philippine National Police.

The scammers used phone numbers such as 0916-308-3280 and 0943-280-5519.

Those who received messages from the two phone numbers are advised to contact the Victorias City Police Station through 399-2819 or 0939-964-8694./GB
