The Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative said its average residential rate this billing month of June decreased by P3.1594 per kilowatt-hour.
This means that Noceco member-consumers will be paying P14.8015/kWh this month, from the P17.9609/kWh rate in May.
“The total residential rate decrease…(was) due to the P2.7618 per kWh reduction in the overall generation charge, compared to May 2024,” Noceco said in an advisory June 11, adding that “the significant P4.8497/kWh drop in the prices in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM), where we purchase a majority of our power, attributed to the overall decrease.”
Noceco said it hopes that WESM prices will continue to decrease as cooler months approach, leading to a sufficient power supply and potentially lower rates.
“We encourage member-consumers to be mindful of their energy consumption to manage their electricity bills effectively,” the distribution utility said, adding that it continues to find solutions to minimize the impact of rising electricity prices in the power industry. | CGC
