Newly-repaired classroom building opens in San Carlos

The newly-repaired three-classroom building at Marago-os Elementary School in Brgy. Nataban, San Carlos City in Negros Occidental, worth P7.2 million, was inaugurated Aug. 7.

The improvement works, undertaken by the Department of Public Works and Highways in Western Visayas, started Nov. 13, 2023 until April 6 this year.

Schools’ division superintendent Dennis Develos, assistant SDS Heidelyn Geromiano, and parent representative Oscar Mangkit led the ribbon-cutting during the ceremony attended by San Carlos City Mayor Renato Gustilo, Marago-os ES head teacher Leilani Bejoco, teachers, and parents.

Mangkit thanked the city government for the attention given to the Marago-os ES and emphasized the positive impact of such improvements on teachers and students.

“Our commitment to supporting our local education sector remains strong, as we are dedicated to helping provide quality education that creates a lasting impact,” Gustilo said in a statement. “Together, we will continue to work towards building a brighter future for our schools and communities.”

The city said that Rev. Fr. Richard Lidres of the San Carlos Borromeo Cathedral led in the blessing of the school facility. ||
