The Cadiz City government and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-Negros Island Region (BJMP-NIR) have officially executed a deed of donation for the site of a new Cadiz City Jail facility.
The formal turnover agreement took place at Cadiz City Hall II, following the courtesy visit of BJMP-NIR officials led by Jail Chief Supt. Brendan Fulgencio to Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr.
In a statement, the BJMP-NIR said the collaborative initiative is designed to address facility capacity limits while creating a safer, more humane environment aimed at successfully reintegrating persons deprived of liberty into society upon release.
The signing of the deed of donation was also highlighted by the turnover of handcrafted artwork, depicting the city’s coffee plantation alongside the mayor’s favorite animal, the carabao.
Made by an inmate, it symbolizes the inmate community’s gratitude for the city government’s continued investment in their reform and future.
The BJMP-NIR said the partnership directly advances their core institutional mission of “Changing Lives, Building a Safer Nation” through sustained inter-agency support and modernized correctional infrastructure. | GPB
