Negros Press Club bowling tourney held

The Green Team won first place in the Negros Press Club (NPC) Bowling Tournament held Nov. 15 at the Negros Super Lanes in Bacolod City.

The team secured the top spot with a total score of 786 points, just one point ahead of the Yellow Team’s 785 points.

The Green Team, led by NPC Board of Director (BOD) Merlinda Pedrosa of Sun.Star, rallied behind the Yellow Team with a 30-point margin in the first round, but made a remarkable comeback in the second round, scoring 409 points to take the lead.

The Yellow Team was led by NPC BOD Maureen Andrea Soliguen of FMR-Bacolod.

Meanwhile, the Pink Team, led by Rox Estrella of DYRL, placed third with 736 points and the Red Team, with BOD Eden Aboso of Aksyon Radyo, took the fourth spot with 707 points.

Aksyon Boy Duran of Pink Team took home three individual awards: Highest Single Score, Highest Double, and Special Award for Most Spares.

Dolly Yasa of Daily Guardian also received three awards: Highest Double, Special Award for Most Strikes, and Special Award for Most Spares.

Other individual award winners include Jun Gaton of Pasiplat FM, who received the Highest Pinning Award for Male, and Dolores Miranda of Negros Weekly, who won the Highest Single Score Award.

Winners received cash prizes, and the champion team players each received medals.

NPC president Mark Gabriel Salanga, in a club press release, expressed gratitude to the members and supporters, including Negros Occidental 3rd District Rep. Javi Benitez, Merzci, and the Manapla Port Stevedoring and Arrastre, for the successful holding of the tournament.

The bowling tournament has become an annual tradition of NPC, the oldest press club in the Philippines. ||
