Residents in Bacolod City and neighboring areas serviced by Negros Power will pay an additional P0.4506 per kilowatt-hour of electricity consumed.

This means that the average residential rate for February is P12.1477/kWh, from last month’s rate of P11.6971/kWh.

The increase was attributed to the hike in transmission charge due to upward adjustments in the ancillary services and universal charges, Negros Power said in an advisory Feb. 17, adding the Energy Regulatory Commission approved increases in the missionary electrification and Renewable Energy Development Cash Incentive (REDCI) charges.

The rate adjustment has been reflected in bills that consumers in Bacolod as well as Talisay, Silay, Bago, Murcia, and Don Salvador Benedicto started receiving Feb. 16.

“Maga-implementar man ang Negros Power sang real property tax kag business tax recovery bilang kabahin sang pagsunod sa mga regulasyon,” the advisory said.

Last month, Negros Power also increased its residential rate by P0.5095/kWh. | CGC
