The five-day 16th Negros Island Organic Farmers Festival and 1st Terra Madre Visayas held at the Capitol Grounds in Bacolod City recorded a total of P2.7 million in sales during its run until Nov. 19.
Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said yesterday that he considers the event as successful, noting that it helped the farmers a lot in selling their products.
“We will continue to support it,” he added.
While there is no discussion yet on which province will host next year’s edition, Lacson said he wants Negros Oriental to do the hosting.
“I can ask Negros Oriental if they are ready to host it. To get them really interested and look forward to this yearly event,” the governor said.
During Sunday’s closing rites, the Negros Oriental booth was declared winner in the Processed Category while the Pontevedra booth won the Fresh Category.
Hearty’s Urban Garden of Maria Corazon Acaba was the winner in the Plant, Herb and Ornamentals category while the SFC Capiz booth of Francis Erika Lim won in the Arts and Crafts Category. | GB
