Neg Occ tops active COVID-19 cases in WV

Negros Occidenta still ranks No. 1 in the Department of Health’s roster of Western Visayas provinces with the most number of active coronavirus disease 2019 cases at 1,574 as of today, Nov. 1.

No. 2 on the list is Iloilo City  with 590 cases followed by Iloilo province, 494;  Bacolod City, 293; Capiz, 135;  Aklan, 16; Guimaras, 8, and Antique, 6, a DOH 6 report said.

Western Visayas  has a total of 3,106 active  COVID-19 cases.

Negros Occidental also registered 3.039 recoveries and 79 deaths, out of the total 4,692 confirmed cases,  the DOH Center for Health Development in Western Visayas said.

Bacolod City, on the other hand,  has the most number of confirmed COVID 19 cases with 4,811, but around 4,401 have recovered since.

Reports also said 127 died from the disease in Bacolod.

Negros Occidental remains under the Modified General Community Quarantine status until Nov. 30, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia also extended the GCQ status of Bacolod City until the end of the month.

Meanwhile, the DOH said Region 6 has 80 new COVID-19 cases today.

Of the new confirmed cases,  31 came from, 6 from Bacolod City;  23,   Capiz; 15,  Iloilo City  and 3 from   Iloilo province, latest DOH data said, adding that since the COVID outbreak, the region posted a total of  16,845 confirmed cases. – GPB
