Negros Occidental has been assured of 25,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine by Presidential Adviser for COVID-19 Response, Vince Dizon, for the inoculation of minors five to 11 years old, said Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force action officer and Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz Monday.
Diaz said that the Hospital Operations Department and the Provincial Health Office thanked Dizon for allocating more vaccines for the pediatrics inoculation in the province.
The vaccines were expected to arrive late Monday, Diaz said.
With COVID-19 active cases steadily going down to 92, as of March 6, Diaz congratulated the Negrenses for a united effort in fighting the coronavirus and a long period of sacrifices.
Diaz also reported that Negros Occidental only had five new cases Sunday, which he described as a good sign “on our way to a new normal.”
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson expects the de-escalation of Negros Occidental from Alert Level 2 to 1 by March 16.
“We have enough time to prepare for that,” Lacson said.
But he stressed that Negrenses should continue to practice minimum health protocols.
The World Health Organization may announce that the COVID-19 pandemic status will shift to an endemic state by September.
Diaz also reported that occupancy rate at the Cadiz District Hospital for COVID-19 patients is now down to 19 percent. | GB
