Private sector workers in Negros Oriental and Siquijor, and other areas in Central Visayas, will receive an additional P42 in their daily minimum wage, effective on Oct. 14, the Department of Labor and Employment said Sept. 27.
This means that workers in Negros Oriental, Siquijor, and Bohol, classified as class B, will start receiving P542 a day next month, and P582 for employees in the cities and towns of Cebu classified as class A.
Negros Oriental and Siquijor are still under the Central Visayas Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board since the Wage Board for the Negros Island Region has yet to be formed.
The DOLE said the wage increase will benefit more than 337,000 private sector workers in the region. | CGC
