The province of Negros Oriental logged 14 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 on Saturday, that brought to 754 the total confirmed cases in the province.
Provincial Health officer-in-charge, Dr. Liland Estacion, said that of the new cases, five were from Bais City and were close contacts of a COVID patient, three in Dumaguete City including a nurse and a nursing aide, and others in the towns of Siaton and Bacong, and Tanjay City.
The province has 22 COVID deaths, and the latest was a 51 year-old female from Bonawon, Siaton, who had mild pneumonia and diabetes.
There are 95 active cases in the province and the patients are in isolation facilities of concerned local government units, including 40 in Dumaguete City, 17 in Bais City, 7 in Sibulan, 6 in Valencia, and 5 in Zamboanguita.
Estacion also reported 637 total recoveries.
She reiterated the warning of health and provincial officials against going to crowded places as she disclosed that one of the new cases in Dumaguete is a meat vendor at the city public market.
