NegOcc nears 1.8M target of fully vaxxed residents

The number of vaccinated Negrenses rose to 1,084,254, as of Jan. 30, equivalent to 59.40 percent of the targeted 1.8 million residents of the province, who are now fully inoculated, the Provincial Health Office reported.

The PHO report added that 176,489 more Negrenses are due for their second dose against the coronavirus disease 2019.

The provincial government of Negros Occidental is targeting to vaccinate 1,875,370 Negrenses, excluding those residing in Bacolod City, by the end of this month, to achieve the 70 percent herd immunity against COVID-19.

With barely a month to go, the PHO and various city and municipal health offices in Negros Occidental are racing to administer vaccines to the remaining 564,627 Negrenses.

La Carlota City remains on top of local government units with the highest percentage on fully vaccinated individuals at 89 percent, Pulupandan 79.67 percent, Cadiz City 79.27 percent, Murcia 77.23 percent, EB Magalona 75.30 percent, Victorias City 74.46 percent, San Enrique 74.21 percent, and Sagay City 72.07 percent.

As of Feb.1, the Provincial Incident Management Team reported that COVID-19 active cases further rose to 3,445. –GB
