The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) filed charges for reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide, serious multiple physical injuries, and damage to properties against an Indian national involved in a multi-vehicle crash in Barangay Alangilan on Good Friday evening, April 18.
Three persons died while 16 others were injured. Except for the two policemen, all are parishioners participating in a religious procession when the accident happened.
The multiple charges were filed against Jagpret Singh, 37, a resident of Barangay Villamonte, before the City Prosecutor’s Office April 21.
Singh was reported by the police as the driver of the red Toyota Innova that triggered the road crash.
P/Col. Joeresty Coronica, BCPO director, said two witnesses proved that Singh was driving the vehicle contrary to information being spread on social media.
The Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Parish and Shrine, in tandem with its partner organizations and volunteers, meanwhile, is holding a psychological first aid for the survivors and witnesses of the tragedy today, April 22. | GB
