The pump prices of petroleum products are set to decrease, effective tomorrow, Aug. 12, oil companies announced over the weekend.

The per-liter price of diesel could go down by P1.30 to P1.70, gasoline by P0.50 to P0.70, and kerosene by P1.20 to P1.50.

Exact adjustments will be known today.

This will be the first rollback for diesel and kerosene, after four straight weeks of increases. The latest upward adjustment took effect Aug. 5, with diesel up by P1.20 per liter, gasoline by P1.90/L, and kerosene by P1/L.

Meanwhile, the Department of Energy Visayas Energy Industry Management Division will hold an online briefing on the rules and regulations governing businesses in the liquid fuels and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) industries.

The briefing is open to all industry participants as well as those who have recently been issued a Certificate of Compliance as liquid fuels retail outlet (LFRO) dealers, or a License to Operate (LTO) as registered LPG participants.

The activity will be on Aug. 28, starting at 8 a.m. Those interested may register via https://bit.ly/doi-briefing-aug-reg.

The DOE also said that securing the LTO and COC will be made faster and more convenient for LPG industry participants, such as retailers, dealers, as well as gasoline station owners in island provinces, through the conduct of one-stop-shops.

“This one-stop-shop puts safety and service at the forefront of our work,” DOE undersecretary Alessandro Sales said in a statement Aug. 10. “By delivering services directly to the people, we are strengthening safety standards while helping local enterprises operate more efficiently and competitively. Our goal is clear – safer homes, safer communities, and a stronger local economy.”

This week, DOE will hold a one-stop-shop in Palawan, from Aug. 11-15. Similar events will be conducted to other islands and remote provinces to ensure that the agency’s services reach underserved areas nationwide.

As of June 2025, the DOE said that 14,672 LPG facilities nationwide have been issued LTOs. | CGC
