A woman, who had been missing for five days, was found dead inside a sack near a game farm at Hacienda Sta. Catalina, Barangay Dos Hermanas in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, Oct. 13.
One of the suspects, who initially reported discovering the victim’s body, was subsequently identified as allegedly involved in the killing, the police said Oct. 14.
The second suspect was also identified by investigators.
Police said the victim, 33, of Barangay Niluthangan, Canlaon City, Negros Oriental, was temporarily residing in the area as a laundry worker.
Her live-in-partner said he last saw her on Oct. 8, when she left for work at Vista 1, Barangay Matab-ang, Talisay City.
The police said the crime was reportedly triggered by the victim’s refusal to lend money to the two suspects.
Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region director, Brig. Gen. Rudecindo Reales, said the suspects were alleged under the influence of illegal drugs.
Recovered from the area was a hardwood believed to have been used as a murder weapon.
The suspects, who are facing murder charges, admitted the crime in a media interview, and confessed that they had sexually assaulted and killed her.
The police are conducting further investigation to confirm the alleged rape. | TMD
