A teenage girl, who was reported missing on July 29, was found dead inside a sugarcane plantation in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental yesterday.

The body of Pearl Joy Galve, 15, a Grade 10 student of Sum-ag National High School in Bacolod City, was positively identified by her mother, Jennifer, through the clothes and shoes she had been wearing.

Initial investigation of the La Carlota City police showed that the cadaver was already in the advanced state of decomposition.

Galve’s body was found by a farm worker inside the sugarcane field in Hacienda San Roque, Barangay Cubay, which is about 700 meters from the main road.

Genalyn Malunes, aunt of the victim, told reporters that the girl’s arms were tied behind her and her mouth was covered with a duct tape.

Malunes said that her niece failed to return home from school on July 29. | GB
