Miss Talisay grand coronation tonight

Talisay City’s Silver Queen will be crowned tonight, Sept. 9, as the search for Miss Talisay 2024 culminates in a grand coronation, starting at 7 p.m., at the public plaza.

The 12 ladies and the crowd will be serenaded by Kapuso singer and actor Derrick Monasterio, the city said.

The beauty pageant is one highlight of the 25th Minulu-an Festival of Talisay that started Sept. 1 and will end tomorrow, Sept. 10, with the street dancing and arena dance drama competition among the main events.

The search for Miss Talisay 2024 culminates in a grand coronation tonight, Sept. 9, at the city public plaza.

Over the weekend, the 4th Himos ni Kulas, a celebration of Talisay’s rich culinary heritage, was also held, showcasing the heirloom dishes passed down through generations, as well as new delicacies crafted by the city’s current generation of food experts.

“The 4th Himos ni Kulas is an exciting fusion of tradition and innovation in Talisay’s culinary scene,” the city said in a press release. “While it proudly showcases Talisay’s iconic heirloom recipes, it also pushes boundaries with bold new dishes offering a fresh take on local flavors.”

The three-day gastronomic journey kicked off Sept. 6, with Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Board Member Manman Ko joining Mayor Neil Lizares, first lady Atty. Weng Lizares, Vice Mayor Nic Jalandoni and city officials, as well as Pasidungog Foundation Inc. president Dr. Rodolfo Patiño, among others at the opening ceremony.

Meanwhile, the Inocencio V. Ferrer Memorial School of Fisheries, Efegenio Lizares National High School, and Dr. Antonio A. Lizares Memorial High School bagged the championship in the 25th Minulu-an Festival mass dance competition, with the Rafael B. Lacson Memorial High School performers as first runner-up, and the City Employees as second runner-up.

In the Mobile Legends Tournament grand finals, held at the public plaza Sept. 8, players from Barangay Zone 12A emerged as champion, with Barangay Zone 3 as first runner-up, and Barangay Zone 2 as second runner-up. Luigi Jimera of Barangay Zone 12A won the MVP award, the city said.
