Two male minors were injured in a stabbing incident outside a school in Barangay Aguisan, Himamaylan City, Aug. 11.
Initial police investigation showed that a 17-year-old resident (A) of the barangay was with his 16-year-old friend (B) near the Stella Maris Academy, when two students of Alternative Learning System (ALS), aged 16 (X) and 14 (Z) approached them.
A physical altercation ensued after X allegedly started a fistfight with A, with Z also reportedly stabbing A several times in the back with a bladed weapon.
X then got hold of the weapon and also stabbed A in the neck, chest, and abdomen.
B attempted to pacify the situation but was also stabbed in his right hand.
A bystander, Kian, assisted in stopping the altercation, the police said.
The victims were transported to the Binalbagan Infirmary for treatment, while the suspects were brought to the Governor Valeriano M. Gatuslao Memorial Hospital, the police added.
The Stella Maris Academy clarified in an official statement posted Aug. 11 that the incident occurred outside the school grounds during the lunch break/dismissal period.
It added that regular safety measures, including daily bag checks, remain active within the campus, and that they are coordinating with barangay officials and law enforcement to strengthen security in the surrounding area. | TMD
