Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, the retail and commercial arm of property giant Megaworld, Friday unveiled its redesigned masterplan for Northill Parade, its retail and commercial development set to rise next year in the 53-hectare Northill Gateway township along the Bacolod-Silay Airport Access Road.

Graham Coates, head of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, who led the unveiling of the 2.4-hectare Northill Parade, along with Bacolod Councilor Jason Villarosa and other company executives, said they are “thrilled to bring this unique concept of commercial development here in Northill Gateway”.

“Since this township is just along the Bacolod-Silay Airport access road, and the Bacolod welcome marker is just right here, we expect our Northill Parade to be another new tourist destination in this part of Bacolod,” Coates said.

He said this multi-million-peso development will have several free-standing food and retail concepts, similar to stopovers in the United States located along highways going to and from the airport.

Coates said the first few stand-alone buildings will be occupied by some of the renowned American restaurant brands of the Bistro Group, particularly Denny’s, Texas Roadhouse, Randy’s Donuts, Olive Garden, and T.G.I. Friday’s.

Megaworld said Northill Parade, with total leasable area of 1.1 hectares, forms part of the 7.5-hectare mixed-use retail and leisure complex inside its Northill Gateway township. Aside from retail and dining establishments, there will be parking spaces, landscaped pathways, and open areas.

“Northill Parade perfectly fits the concept of Northill Gateway as a township surrounded by a residential community and highlighted by an outdoor leisure setting that delights visitors with panoramic views of the Negros mountains and the amazing sunset at twilight,” Coates said.

“Aside from serving guests and tourists driving along the airport access road, Northill Parade will also offer great convenience to residents of Forbes Hill, Fountain Grove, and other nearby villages,” Coates said.

A fully air-conditioned chapel that can accommodate up to 250 people, as well as leisure and institutional components, will also rise inside Northill Gateway to further complement the vibrant lifestyle taking shape in the area.

The construction of all these developments will begin before the end of this year, with the Northill Parade likely to open by the second half of 2024, Coates said at the unveiling ceremony also attended by Cristina Yusingco, general manager for Megaworld Lifestyle Malls in Bacolod; Kristina Magtira-Villanueva, Megaworld Lifestyle Malls senior assistant vice president and head of Brand, Creatives, and Marketing;

Harold Geronimo, Megaworld vice president for Public Relations and Media Affairs, and the president of Forbes Hill Homeowners Association; Jennifer Fong, Megaworld Visayas first VP for Sales and Marketing; Jogie Viceo, Megaworld township director for Bacolod and Iloilo; and the company’s joint venture partners for Northill Gateway Philip and Anna Lacson, Suzette Lacson, and Eugene Gawat, among others.

Northill Gateway is one of the two township developments of Megaworld in the highly-urbanized Bacolod City, the other one is the 34-hectare The Upper East near the Government Center.

Aside from the 7.5-hectare mixed-use retail and leisure complex, the Northill Gateway township also features the 15-hectare residential village Forbes Hill, and the 24.5-hectare Fountain Grove community.

In 2021, Megaworld also opened McDonald’s Forbes Hill, the first-ever McDonald’s NXTGen store in Negros Occidental, just beside the iconic Bacolod Welcome Marker./CGC
