The Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME) opened the 10th Visayas Regional Conference, hosted by the PSME Negros Occidental chapter in a hotel in Bacolod City June 20.
The opening program of the event, on the theme “Mechanical Engineers Uniting for Prosperity: Empowering Global Advancement”, was attended by Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, among other guests.
Lacson said that mechanical engineers possess the essential knowledge and skills vital for humanity’s advancement.
Mechanical engineering, often regarded as the backbone of innovation and progress, influences all aspects of daily life, from transportation and production, to energy, power, consumer electronics, healthcare and medical devices, infrastructure, and construction, a Capitol press release said.
Lacson thanked mechanical engineers for emerging as “a beacon of possibilities in an era characterized by interconnectedness and environmental responsibility.”
“Mechanical engineers persevere in pushing boundaries, combining creativity with precision, to build a more efficient, sustainable, and interconnected world,” the governor said.
Also in attendance were PSME national vice president for Visayas, Engr. Arculo Concon, national secretary Engr. Rodolfo Alcoriza, Engr. Glorbybelle Galinea, DILG Negros Occidental provincial director Teodora Sumagaysay, and other PSME officers, members and guests. ||
