The Barangay Tangub MassKara Dancers from Bacolod City wowed crowds at the 2026 Sinulog Festival’s street dancing and ritual showdown in Cebu City Jan. 18.

A total of 60 dancers and over 100 propsmen paraded and performed from Mango Avenue to the Cebu City Sports Complex, infusing the Sinulog celebration with vivid color and energy, with about 2.5 million spectators, per the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office estimates.

Tangub punong barangay Noli Villarosa expressed pride in the group’s performance and the warm welcome they received. “I was happy seeing how Cebu enjoyed the performance, and our MassKara dancers really did well.”

Angeline Samos, 16, described her first Sinulog performance as unforgettable. “I never expected to come along and perform, and, so far, it was the best experience, especially when the crowd cheered during our performance.”

City Tourism officer Teresa Manalili, who joined the Bacolod contingent, along with secretary to the mayor, Atty. Jose Marty Go, said “the MassKara dancers showcased Bacolod’s culture, perseverance, creativity, and vibrant energy, enriching the overall festival experience and strengthening cultural exchange between Cebu and Bacolod.”

As one of over 40 guest performers, the group brought the lively essence of Bacolod’s MassKara Festival to Cebu, leaving a memorable mark on this year’s Sinulog, the city said in a press release.

The dancers from Tangub, the reigning champion of the 2025 MassKara Festival street dancing and arena competition, are also set to perform at the Cathay International Chinese New Year Parade in Hong Kong, from Feb. 15–20, further bringing Bacolod’s festival spirit to the international stage. ||
