Police Col. Joseph Thomas Martir is back in Negros Occidental, as the new officer-in-charge of the Bacolod City Police Office.
Martir replaces his classmate, P/Col. Manuel Placido, who served as BCPO director, exactly for one year today, Oct.1.
A member of the Philippine National Police Academy Class 1995, Martir is no stranger to his assignment at BCPO. He used to command the Police Stations 2 and 4, while he was still a junior police commissioned officer.
Placido, on the other hand, said he is up for occupying another position at Camp Crame.
Prior to his appointment as BCPO OIC, Martir served as chief of the Police Security Protection Group 6 stationed at Camp Martin Delgado in Iloilo City, for 11 months. He also served for two years as director of the Zamboanga City Police Office and commander of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6.
Martir, a resident of Bacolod City, asked for the cooperation of Bacoleños in his stint as BCPO officer-in-charge, as he vowed to heighten police visibility operations to deter commission of crimes. — GB
