The outdoor theme park Magikland in Silay City, Negros Occidental, has been closed effective Dec. 11, after one its park ride attendants tested positive for COVID-19, the management announced Frday.
But Reynaldo Bantug, president and chief executive officer of Aton Land and Leisure Inc., said that the park ride attendant is asymptomatic.
He is presently under home isolation.
Bantug, in an advisory, said the result of contact tracing shows that the employee’s exposure was from outside of Magikland premises.
The employee came into contact with other Magikland staff on non-operating park days, which means that no park guests were exposed, Bantug said.
He added that the exposed staff members will undergo swab tests to complete the contact tracing procedure to ensure their health.
As a preventive measure and in accordance with the government’s safety standards, Magikland management has decided to close the park on Dec. 11, 12 and 13 until the results of all the swab tests are known and the concerned staff members are declared clear to resume work at the park, Bantug said.
While it pains them to close the park on such short notice, we will be able to open again next weekend, Bantug said, as he expressed confidence that the park is safe for the enjoyment of its visitors, and the Magikland staff.
Magikland reopened Nov. 14 after several months of closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with 50 percent capacity and strict enforcement of mandated health protocols.*GB
