Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson announced Saturday that former First District Rep. Julio Ledesma IV is making a comeback in politics.
Lacson said that incumbent Rep. Gerardo Valmayor will give way to Ledesma.
He also said that Bago City Mayor Nicholas Yulo and Don Salvador Benedicto Mayor Marxlen de la Cruz, who are now in their last term as local chief executives, will seek the mandate for members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
Dela Cruz’s younger brother, Vice Mayor Nehemias de la Cruz Jr., hopes to replace him as mayor of Don Salvador Benedicto.
Meanwhile, during the United Negros Alliance (UNegA) assembly in Talisay City Saturday, Moises Padilla Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia Yulo said that her husband, Felix Mathias, will be her running mate in next year’s elections.
Yulo will be facing former ally, Vice Mayor Ian Villaflor, who also expressed his intention to seek the mayoralty seat with incumbent councilor Beauty Nazareno as his running mate.
With both Yulo and Villafor as UNegA members, Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer said the equity of the incumbent will be applied.
Villaflor said he will join the Lakas CMD party of Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, while Felix Mathias Yulo, took his oath as member of the National Unity Party (NU) and UNegA during the party assembly meeting presided over by 2nd district Rep. Alfredo Marañon III.
Ferrer, on the other hand, said that he will run for congressman, while Paula Alonso, daughter of Board Member Jose Benito Alonso, is eyeing the board member position in the Fourth District. | GB
