Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson lauded the local social welfare and development officers of Negros Occidental for their commitment to public service, especially in responding to the urgent needs of variousl sectors in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lacson keynoted the Local Social Welfare and Development Officers Program Review and Planning Workshop held at the Capitol Social Hall Thursday, Dec. 3.
As a developing nation, Lacson said, everybody is aware of the vital role of social and development work, citing that in the Philippines, there are more underprivileged and vulnerable constituents because the country is also prone to natural calamities.
“Our social workers are confronted with greater struggles and challenges compared to our counterparts from other countries. These pre-existing conditions were further intensified with the unexpected and sudden occurrence of COVID-19,” he said in a Capitol press release
He expressed hopes that the planning activity will make the PSWDO programs more responsive to the needs of the province and all Negrenses.
