A total of 976 families affected and displaced by Typhoon Tino in La Castellana, Negros Occidental are up for transfer to the municipal evacuation site, Mayor Añejo Nicor said on Sunday.
Nicor, who joined the Dinagsa Festival in Cadiz City, said the displaced families are presently staying in schools being used as evacuation centers.
This is already affecting the students enrolled in those learning facilities, he added.
The mayor they are targeting to start the transfer of these families to the municipal evacuation site by Jan. 31.
Nicor said the municipal evacuation site is equipped with facilities to answer the basic and health needs of the occupants.
La Castellana was among the local government units in central Negros devastated by Typhoon Tino in November last year. | GB
