Bacolodnon topnotchers, athletes honored

Nine Bacolodnon topnotchers in the 2023 and 2022 licensure examinations, and about a hundred winning athletes and coaching staff from various schools in the city were feted Dec. 9 at the Government Center lobby.

These include Sidrey Mel Flores and Gabriel Martin Canillas 1st and 2nd placers, respectively, in the 2023 Medical Technologists licensure examination (LE); Andrea Nicole Sumugat, 1st placer in the March 2023 Professional Teacher LE; Lois Bernardo, 4th placer in the 2023 Interior Designer LE; Adnan Balisi, 6th placer, 2023 Guidance Counselor LE; Nicole Mari Olorvida, 7th placer, Occupational Therapist LE; Carl Angelo Hofileña, 9th placer, 2023 Physician’s Licensure Examination; and John Philip Rollo and Allysa Hontilano, who both landed in the 9th spot, in the 2022 Nursing and PT licensure examinations, respectively.

City Ordinance 1006-2022, authored by Councilor Israel Salanga, grants cash incentives to examinees who excelled in either the Bar or Board Examination, and declared topnotchers by either the Supreme Court of the Philippines, or the Professional Regulation Commission, respectively.

Top 1 will get P50,000 in cash incentive, P30,000 for those in top 2 to 5, and P10,000 for sixth to 10th placers.

The city PIO also listed about 64 athletes, who bagged gold, silver, and bronze medals in various competitions, including athletics, swimming, gymnastics, table tennis, chess, basketball, volleyball, taekwondo, and badminton.

“(It was) a night dedicated to honoring the outstanding athletes and brilliant students of Bacolod City. Their achievements are not just milestones but a testament to their hard work, discipline, and dedication,” it added. ||
