The three-story La Castellana Municipal Police Station in Negros Occidental is now ready to serve the Negrenses.
PBrig. Gen. Jack Wanky, police regional director of Western Visayas, and PCol. Rainier de Chavez, police provincial director of Negros Occidental, on Tuesday (March 25) turned over the symbolic key of the new police station to Mayor Alme Rhummyla Nicor-Mangilimutan, in the presence of town police chief, PMaj. Rhojn Darell Nigos, and other municipal officials.
Mangilimutan said the lot for the new police station was donated by the municipal government to the Philippine National Police (PNP) in 2019, and its construction started in 2024, after she was able to secure a budget of P10 million from the PNP in 2022.

An additional budget of P1 million was allocated by the municipal government for the office equipment, perimeter fencing, among others, she added.
“I believe that if their workplace is conducive and treated as their second home, they can deliver good service, effective and efficient to our people,” Mangilimutan, who used to be a policewoman, said.
She said the old police headquarters will be used as offices of national government agencies such as the Commission on Elections, Departments of the Interior and Local Government and Agrarian Reform, Association of Barangay Captains and Sangguniang Kabataan Federation.
Wanky lauded the strong support of La Castellana officials to the town police.
“If not for your help, this police station would still be a dream. Now, we have seen it become a reality,” he added. | GB
