La Carlota City Vice Mayor David Baga led the turnover of two school buildings of the Cainaman Elementary School Extension-Bagumbayan to DepEd-La Carlota City in Barangay Balabag recently.
The construction of the two two-classroom buildings, worth P8 million, was funded under the city government’s Special Education Fund.
The four classrooms can accommodate 124 pupils, from kindergarten to Grade 6, the city said in a press release, adding the school was built on land donated by ECJ Negros Farms Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative.
It may be recalled that the school building at the old site was severely damaged by Super Typhoon Odette in December 2021. Mayor Rex Jalando-on and teacher-in-charge Ariel Baquinquito relentlessly pushed for the construction of a school building at the new site even prior to the typhoon.
Pastor Joel Razol solemnized the thanksgiving ceremony, attended by the Balabag punong barangay and council, ENFARBCO chairman Edgar dela Rama, resident manager Rommel Ledesma, and operations manager Franscisco Oplas, and DepEd officers, led by assistant schools division superintendent Bernie Libo-on.
Meanwhile, Jalando-on welcomed officers and staff of the Land Transportation Office, during an ocular inspection of the LTO-La Carlota Office Jan. 10, the city said, adding that the building is already completed but still lacks utility services.
The visiting LTO personnel include Region 6 director Eric Lenard Tabaldo, Reuben Tampos – chief of the EB Magalona District Office, head executive assistant Jennifer Bonite, and information officer Riza Otayde. ||
