Artist Ryn Paul Gonzales (RPG) returns to Park Inn by Radisson Bacolod’s Art Cove, this time, for his solo exhibition, titled “Kasisidmoon: Whispers of Goodnights Past”, that opened Sept. 19, and will run until Jan. 12, 2025.

A Negrense artist who finds inspiration in his childhood spent among the rivers, sugarcane fields, and hills of his village, RPG’s artwork “reflects a deep connection to nature and a commitment to its preservation.”

RPG said that in an age where technology reigns supreme, our nights have transformed, our nighttime rituals have changed dramatically.

“The art in this exhibition seeks to remind us of the beauty and wonder that the night holds, urging us to look beyond our screens, and rediscover the goodnights that we have lost,” he said at the opening of his exhibit Sept. 19.

“Kasisidmoon: Whispers of Goodnights Past” is an invitation to rekindle the magic of the night—a time once rich with stories, shared under the moonlit sky, and illuminated by the warmth of a fire.

“This exhibition seeks to romanticize the night, drawing from the deep wells of our cultural tradition of storytelling.

“Through acrylic on canvas, sculptures, and installations, I aim to evoke the enchanting nights of yesteryears, when families and communities gathered to share tales, laugh, and connect under the stars. These nights were filled with the whispers of trees, the glow of fireflies, and the songs of nocturnal creatures, painting a vivid picture of a world alive and watchful,” RPG said.

Archie Javellana of Park Inn by Radisson Bacolod said RPG’s return is a testament to his enduring artistic vision and his deep-rooted connection to the local art community.

“His previous works have captivated audiences with their unique blend of bold expression, social commentary, and masterful use of materials. It is our distinct pleasure to welcome him back,” Javellana said. “As you explore this exhibition, I encourage you to take your time and reimagine those fond moments from your past. Let these works be a heartwarming treat that will make you smile and remember.” | CGC photos
