Victorias City is set to benefit from three major infrastructure projects initiated by Negros Occidental 3rd District Representative Javier Miguel Benitez.
The projects include a Multi-Purpose and Cultural Building at Sidlak Victorias Global City, a Multi-Purpose Building for the Philippine National Police and Philippine Army, and the Barangay Redevelopment of the Barbecue Plaza.
Benitez, along with FPJ Panday Bayanihan Party-list Representative Brian Daniel Poe Llamanzares and Mayor Abelardo Bantug III, led the ceremonial groundbreaking of the Multi-Purpose and Cultural Building.
The facility is envisioned as a hub for creativity, youth engagement, and cultural preservation. It aims to promote artistic expression, celebrate Victoriasanon identity, and empower local talents through inclusive, culturally enriching spaces.
In his speech, Rep. Llamanzares emphasized, “We want to showcase what we plan to do in the 20th Congress. Our goal is to bring meaningful services and initiatives closer to the people and go around the country to help as much as we can.”
Benitez underscored the value of inclusive spaces for culture and civic engagement, while Mayor Bantug highlighted the city’s commitment to fostering community spirit through accessible infrastructure.
Prior to this, the city also broke ground for a multi-purpose building designated for uniformed personnel, located near Barangay XI People’s Hall.
Major General Michael Samson, commander of the Army’s 3rd Infantry Division, was among the attendees. The facility is expected to enhance the support system for police and army personnel, bolstering public safety and response readiness.
Rep. Benitez expressed his fulfillment in donating the two-hectare lot for the said building, and acknowledged former Senator Francis Tolentino’s assistance in securing funding.
The city also launched the redevelopment of the Barbecue Plaza, locally known as Tun-ogan. The project aims to transform the area into a more structured, sanitary, and vendor-friendly food hub.
Once completed, it will provide local vendors with improved infrastructure, promote hygienic food handling practices, and offer a more inviting dining space for both residents and visitors. ||
