IPM Construction and Development Corporation will remain as the city’s garbage hauler, with the notice of award and contract signing soon, Atty. Karol Joseph Chiu, secretary to Mayor Alfredo Benitez, said Jan. 30.
The contract of service will be for the collection, hauling, and disposal of garbage for 11 months, starting this February.
IPM’s contract last year has been extended for one month, or until today, Jan. 31, by Benitez since the bidding for the new garbage hauler was only conducted Jan. 10.
Chiu said in a press conference Tuesday that the Bids and Awards Committee did a post-qualification Friday. “Manug gwa na ang notice of award then the signing of the contract sa IPM.”
He said the IPM submitted an offer P3 million less than the P200 million plus Approved Budget for the Contract. “Naka save ang city three million sa contract.”
Chiu said another bidder was declared noncompliant during the proceedings because the one who submitted the papers was found to have no authority.
Benitez said the city expects better garbage collection this year, since the deficiencies found in the old contract have been addressed, and mitigating measures incorporated in the new deal.
This includes mini trucks that could enter small puroks or narrow streets and collect garbage.
Benitez is also eyeing a centralized segregation center so that garbage hauled to recycling centers have already been sorted.
The mayor reiterated his request for residents to properly dispose of their garbage. “Ibutang sa trash bin, indi sa kilid.” | CGC
