Mayor Raymund Tongson said yesterday that the resignation of the Himamaylan Tent City incident commander did not push through.
While a resignation letter was submitted due to internal organizational concerns and conflicts with certain members within the Unified Command System, the matter has since been fully resolved under his supervision, he added.
The Tent City in Barangay 3, Himamaylan City is being earmarked for evacuees of the Kanlaon Volcano eruption.
Tongson did not name the concerned official who initially submitted her resignation.
“Consequently, the incident commander remains in position and continues to perform her duties and responsibilities,” Tongson said.
He added: “I must emphasize that there was no allegation, implication or involvement of corruption in the resignation letter or in any of the incidents that transpired.”
The “issue was purely an internal matter, which has since been properly addressed”, the mayor said, noting that “any speculation or misinformation suggesting otherwise is entirely unfounded”.
“We remain steadfast in our commitment to transparency, integrity, and the efficient execution of disaster response operations within the Unified Command System of the Himamaylan Tent City,” he further said. | GB
