The Bacolod Comelec Office recorded more than 600 new registrants in the two-day satellite registration at SM City Mall August 6 and 7.
Bacolod Election Officer Kathrina Trinio-Caña said they have registered 322 on the first day and 343 on the second day.
The special satellite registration can cater to more registrants compared to ordinary days at the Comelec Office since more personnel were assigned to accommodate new registration, correction of entries and reactivation of voters’ records, Caña said.
Comelec will also hold a special registration on August 13 at the Mansilingan Agro-Industrial School in Bacolod, but this will be exclusive to concerned groups that have pre-registered their members.
On August 14, another satellite registration will be held at SM City Mall from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Talisay City Comelec Office is finalizing the schedule of its satellite registration in four big barangays and one mall.
Election officer, Attorney Ainee Taneza, said she is still waiting for the certification of the Talisay City Health Office before they can finalize the registration in barangays Bubog, San Fernando, Concepcion, and Matab-ang.
Another special registration will be scheduled at the Ayala District Mall.
Taneza added they have approved more than 1,000 new registrants after the Election Registration Board hearing in July.
Those who registered from July 1 to September 30 will be subjected to a ERB hearing in October before they can be included in the final list of voters for the May 9, 2022 presidential and local elections. – MML
