Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson welcomed all participants at the opening of the 2025 Inter La Salle sports camp, dubbed “Hugpong Hampang”, at the University of St. La Salle Coliseum in Bacolod City Jan. 20.
The weeklong event is participated in by 15 La Salle schools from various parts of the country, the Capitol said.
Lacson said that Hugpong Hampang symbolizes not only a shared passion for sports but also the spirit of unity and solidarity that defines the Lasallian family.
“This sports camp is also an opportunity to experience the vibrant traditions and warm hospitality of the Negrense community,” he added. “This event is more than just a competition—it is a celebration of teamwork, sportsmanship, and the values instilled in us by our Alma Mater.”
The Inter La Salle 2025 brings together over 900 delegates across La Salle schools nationwide for exhilarating sports activities until Jan. 24, the USLS said in a press release, adding that this year’s edition “celebrates unity, camaraderie, and athletic excellence through an expanded lineup of sports and activities.”
These include competitions in basketball, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, football, swimming, chess, and e-sports, the newest addition to the tournament.
The participating La Salle schools are De La Salle University, La Salle Greenhills, De La Salle Araneta University, De La Salle Andres Soriano Memorial College, De La Salle John Bosco College, De La Salle Lipa, De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute, De La Salle University – Dasmariñas, De La Salle Zobel, La Salle Academy Iligan, La Salle College Antipolo, La Salle University Ozamiz, St. Jaime Hilario School – De La Salle Bataan, St. Joseph School – La Salle Bacolod, and the USLS Bacolod.
Highlights of the sports camp include special Lasallian formation programs with triathlete and SEA Games gold medalist Nikko Huelgas, “One-Armed Mamba” Kat Tan, and the president of the Negros Occidental Regional Football Association, Miggy Vilmayor, as speakers; a basketball exhibition game featuring Bahay Pag-asa residents and the De La Salle Brothers; as well as a fun-filled giant volleyball match.
The revival of Inter La Salle this year comes after USLS last hosted the event in 2020, prior to the pandemic. ||
