The Hudyaka sa Bais Festival of Harvests was grand champion in the Buglasan Festival of Festivals competition Oct. 17 in Dumaguete, a back-to-back win for the city renowned for dolphin and whale-watching activities.
Bais once again showcased its rich culture, artistry, and spirit of unity—bringing home not only the championship title but also several special awards, including Best Identification Arch, Best Musicality, Best in Street Dancing, Best in Choreography, and Sherwin Colina as Best Choreographer, the city said in a post Oct. 18.
“This remarkable victory is a testament to the dedication, creativity, and teamwork of the entire Hudyaka contingent, under the leadership of Mayor Luigi Marcel Goñi,” it added.

Aside from the Hudyaka sa Bais, other festival showdown winners were Dumaguete City – Sandurot Festival, second place; Bayawan City – Tawo-Tawo Festival, third; Basay – Kapaw Festival, fourth, and Sibulan – Yag-Yag Festival, fifth.
Hudyaka sa Bais was also the champion in the street dancing contest, with Dumaguete City – Sandurot Festival in second place, and Basay – Kapaw Festival, third.
The streets of Dumaguete burst with vibrant colors, rhythmic beats, and electrifying energy during the Buglasan Festival of Festivals streetdance and showdown competitions last Friday, the Capitol said.
Thousands of spectators filled the streets to witness the breathtaking performances of 10 participating LGUs, each proudly showcasing their unique traditions, artistry, and local pride.
Governor Chaco Sagarbarria commended all participants for their creativity and passion, and emphasized that Buglasan stands as a true reflection of the unity and rich heritage of Negros Oriental. ||
