Former Bacolod congressman and city administrator John Orola confirmed that he has recently transferred his voter registration from Bacolod City to the town of Don Salvador Benedicto.

He said his family owns a rest house in the town and he spends his time there to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Orola, also a former Tourism consultant of the provincial government, said he has no political agenda in staying at DS Benedicto.

“I have no intention to join the political circus in that area. Ang akon lang is to enjoy the scenery and how to help DSB (I only want to enjoy the scenery and help DSB),Orola, who is also a lawyer, said.

However, he admitted that PDP-Laban president and Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi has invited him to attend the Sept. 4 party convention in Bacolod.

Orola said he has always been with PDP-Laban since the leadership of former Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez and the party is “re-activating” his membership.

“As of now, I am talking with the leaders of the Cusi-wing of PDP-Laban, ” Orola said.

He added that he wants to help, in any way he can, not only Bacolod City but the entire province as well.

Orola said he has been going around, promoting tourism programs all over the province and some groups are urging him to re-join the local political scene and serve Negros Occidental, officially.

Meanwhile, he said the PDP-Laban Convention on Sept. 4 be a will be a gathering of members to resolve party leadership, including the provincial chairmanship. At present, former 3rd District Rep. Alfredo “Albee” Benitez heads the PDP-Laban in Negros Occidental.

As to his plans to run for governor, Orola said it will depend on the outcome of the convention, and whoever will be the candidate will be made official during the filing of the Certificate of Candidacy in October.

On the reports that Olivia Yanson is willing to support him if he runs for governor, Orola said he has never talked about it with the Yanson matriarch. “It is a mis-information. Mrs. Yanson is my friend and her advice to me after serving as city administrator of Bacolod is to stay away from politics,” Orola said. — MML
