The provincial government-run Hinoba-an District Hospital in Brgy. Pook, and the municipal slaughterhouse in Brgy. 2 Poblacion, both in Hinoba-an in Negros Occidental, were blessed and inaugurated April 23.

Formerly the Eleuterio T. Decena Memorial Hospital (ETDMH), the health facility was relocated to its new site in Barangay Po-ok and officially renamed as Hinoba-an District Hospital.

The Department of Health-NIR Center for Health Development issued a License to Operate for the hospital in November last year.

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, who led the blessing and inauguration ceremonies, thanked the hospital leadership, health workers, local officials, partners, and stakeholders who contributed their time, effort, and resources to make the project a reality.

Meanwhile, the P56-million municipal slaughterhouse project was implemented under the Department of Agriculture–Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP), and funded by the World Bank, the national government, and the province of Negros Occidental.

The project ensures safe, hygienic, and regulated meat processing for public consumption, the Capitol said in a press release, adding it protects public health through proper sanitation and inspection, supports the local livestock industry and economy, and helps manage waste responsibly.

The slaughterhouse consists of a holding pen, boiler house, overhead water tank, wastewater treatment facility with drainage canal and decomposing pit, concrete perimeter fence with steel gate, concrete driveway, and various equipment.

The ceremonies were attended by Board Member Jeffrey Tubola, Hinoba-an Mayor Daph Anthony Reliquias, Provincial Health officer Dr. Girlie Pinongan, chief of Hospital Lalaine Teorima, and Provincial Engineer Ernie Mapa, among others. ||
