The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines said that, as of 8 p.m. Jan. 7, actual loading in areas affected by Typhoon Odette in the Visayas are as follows:

Negros: 92%, Cebu: 58%, Samar: 100%, Panay: 100%, Leyte: 86%, and Bohol: 15%.

The percentage loading represents the current amount of consumption or drawdown of power monitored by the NGCP’s System Operations compared to the normal, pre-typhoon level.

The NGCP also continues to monitor the status of energization of restored transmission lines in Cebu, Bohol, and Southern Leyte. It has deployed more than 800 personnel, comprised of 65 linegangs (520 linemen), engineers, and other support personnel to work towards restoring all remaining affected lines within their target dates.

The NGCP said it has restored 630 out of 917 damaged transmission poles, and 87 of 95 transmission lines in all affected areas, as of Jan. 7.

Loss of power may be caused by affected transmission facilities of NGCP or distribution facilities of local distribution utilities, or electric cooperatives. Specific cities and municipalities affected by the power interruptions are determined by concerned distribution utilities, unless the outage affects the entire franchise area. | NND
