A barangay health aide died while eight others were injured in a road crash at Sitio Punod in Barangay Rizal, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Friday, April 10.
Involved were a Canter vehicle, with personnel of the San Carlos City Health Office as its passengers, and a Hino truck, with two occupants, according to initial reports of the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).
CDRRMO head Joe Recalex Alingasa said the health personnel were on their way to Barangay Quezon for a bloodletting activity.
Initial police investigation showed the Hino truck was traversing downhill while the Canter truck was moving uphill.
Alingasa said that eight persons were also injured in the crash.
One of the passengers of the Canter truck died on the spot, the PRO-NIR report said.
Personnel of the CDRRMO brought the victims to the San Carlos City Hospital for medical treatment. | GB
