Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson agrees that in all campaign rallies, especially in the national level, it is difficult to control the crowd and health protocols might have been violated.
Lacson said he can only hope that there will be no surge of COVID-19 after the campaign period as the province remains under Alert Level 2.
The governor said the province has yet to reach its 80 percent target population for vaccination against the coronavirus disease.
On the ongoing projects of the provincial government, Lacson said they need to secure an exemption from the Commission on Elections before they can proceed with the works.
However, he expressed optimism that the turnover of housing materials to the typhoon victims can continue as soon as they receive an advice from the National Housing Authority.
Lacson said that at least two incumbent senators pledged their support for victims of Typhoon Odette in Negros Occidental, but they have to put the assistance on hold due to the election period. | MML
