Guv to deliver SOPA July 8

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson will deliver his State of the Province Address (SOPA) simultaneous with the inaugural session of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) on July 8 at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City.

Lacson, who is on his third and final term, is expected to enumerate the accomplishments of his administration in the past three years and to bare his programs and projects in the next three years.

The SP, led by Vice Governor Jose Benito Alonso, held a caucus on July 1 and designated the chairpersons of various committees, which will be subject to their approval during the inaugural session next week.

First District Board Member Marxlen de la Cruz was recommended to be the chairperson of the committees on budget and finance, trade industry and commerce, and ways and means; First District  Board Member Araceli Somosa – health and social services and human resources; Second District Board Member Sixto Guanzon – laws, rules and ordinances, internal ethics and discipline, and transportation, and public utilities; Second District  Board Member Christopher Marañon – tourism, history, culture and arts;

Third District Board Member Hope Marey Depasucat – oversight; Third District Board Member Andrew Montelibano – agriculture, environment, and games and amusement;

Fourth District Board Member Paula Alonso – public works and land use and government enterprise and privatization; Fourth District Board Member Nicholas Yulo – investment and promotions and  international relations;  Fifth District Board Member Rita Gatuslao – women, family welfare and Negros child, education, senior citizens, persons with disabilities and indigenous peoples; Fifth District Board Member Hadji    Trojillo – human rights; Sixth District Board Member Ralph Alvarez – disaster preparedness; and Sixth District Board Member Jeffrey Tubola –  cooperatives and  labor and employment;

Board Member Julius Martin Asistio – information and communications technology; Board Member Richard Julius Sablan – barangay affairs, peace and order, good government and accountability; and Board Member Mayvelyn Madrid – youth and sports and government assets. | GB
