Gunsmith yields guns, explosive

Policemen recovered assorted firearms with ammunition and an explosive from a suspected gunsmith during a raid in Purok Marapara, Brgy. Bata, Bacolod City, Sept. 28.

Armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Edgar Tupaz, a composite team from the City Police Intelligence Unit, led by P/Lt. Col. Joeffer Cabural, and the Police Station 3, led by P/Capt. Armilyn Vargas, swooped down on the residence of Ruel Amonin, 51, of the place.

The raiding team recovered a 38 caliber revolver with two ammunition, a KG 9 automatic pistol with two magazines containing 13 ammunition, three cartridges of 12 gauge shotgun, a hand grenade, and various gun assembly tools.

Cabural said they received reports that Amonin engaged in the repair of guns, which prompted them to apply for a search warrant, resulting in the successful police operation./GB
