A former member of the New People’s Army facing murder and frustrated murder was arrested by PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group operatives and troopers of the police Special Action Force on Friday (Nov. 6) in Barangay Ma-ao, Bago City.
Arrested by PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group-Visayas Field Unit and SAF troopers assisted by the Bago City police personnel, was Nory Solinap of Hacienda Maria, Barangay 10, Victorias City.
Solinap was denied bail by Silay Regional Trial Court Judge Felipe Guanzon and his apprehension was a result of the intelligence-driven manhunt operations.
In a statement, the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group-Visayas Field Unit (AKG-VFU) said that Solinap used to be member of the NPA Roselyn Jean Pelle Command in the northern Negros and the second most wanted person in Victorias City.
Lt. Col. Eduardo Corpuz, Victorias City police chief, disclosed that Solinap and his group, whom they were able to dismantle, are involved in robbery and hold-up, gun for hire, and robbery extortion activities.
Corpus also said that Solinap fled to Bago City due to manhunt operations against him.
He confirmed that Solinap ranked number two in the most wanted list of Victorias City Police Station.
Solinap was denied bail for murder charges, while Judge Guanzon recommended P200,000 bail for frustrated murder charges filed against him.
Policemen recovered a 45 caliber pistol with three magazines containing 17 ammunition and two fragmentation grenades during the arrest of Solinap, who is now detained at the Bago City police custodial facility. – GPB
