Separate police operations on June 28 in La Castellana and Silay City, Negros Occidental, led to the seizure of two firearms and a fragmentation grenade.
A 45 caliber pistol with a magazine containing seven ammunition and a hand grenade, were recovered by the police during the serving of an arrest warrant against Ramonito Osano, alias Tito, in Brgy. Sag-ang, La Castellana.
However, Osano, who has pending arrest warrants for attempted homicide, frustrated murder, and murder charges, managed to escape after trading shots with policemen from the Regional Intelligence Division 6, the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company, La Castellana and Bago City Police Stations, and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6.
The fleeing fugitive was denied bail by Judge Mary Jennifer Protasio-Arches for murder charges.
Osano is reportedly a former leader of the New People’s Army.
Meanwhile, a buy-bust operation conducted by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group at Hda. Puyas 1 in Brgy. Bagtic, Silay City, led to the apprehension of Adolfo Montebano, 36, of Brgy 2, Victorias City.
The arrest of Montebano yielded a Colt caliber 45 pistol with a magazine containing two ammunition and P100 in marked money./GB
