Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said Friday (Oct. 17) the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) have yet to release the guidelines for the payment of the fiscal year 2023 performance-based bonus (PBB) of local government employees.
“The DBM and DILG said they will release the guidelines on Aug. 29 this year. But they never did,” Lacson said.
The DBM earlier approved the release of P3.9 billion PBB for 225,545 qualified personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Under the approved release, each qualified PNP official and personnel will receive a PBB equivalent to 45.5 percent of their monthly basic salary as of Dec. 31, 2023.
Lacson said he is hoping that it will be released during the yuletide season celebration as an additional Christmas bonus for the employees.
Such incentive is expected to provide real relief to the families of Negros Occidental provincial government employees – a boost to their household budgets, tuition for their children, or additional funds for daily necessities. | GB
