January is National Bible Month in the Philippines. This year’s theme, “God’s Word: Source of HOPE,” directs us to the Scriptures as our source of comfort and guidance in challenging times.

Using the acrostic HOPE—Harmony, Obedience, Peace, Empowerment—we will explore how the Bible provides us with lasting hope.

First, seek HARMONY through God’s Word.

The Bible teaches us to live in harmony with God and others. Harmony begins by aligning our lives with God’s will, as revealed in His Word.

In Lamentations 3:22, we are reminded of God’s great love and faithfulness, which enables us to reconcile with Him and with others.

Seek forgiveness and reconciliation in relationships. Use God’s Word as your guide in resolving conflicts.

Second, practice OBEDIENCE to God’s Word.

Hope is rooted in obedience to God’s Word. Following His commandments leads to blessings and a deeper relationship with Him.

In Romans 15:4, Paul reminds us that the Scriptures give us instruction, endurance, and encouragement as we obey.

Study the Bible regularly and live out its teachings in daily life. Obedience is not always easy, but it brings lasting hope.

Third, embrace PEACE from God’s Word.

God’s Word offers peace that surpasses understanding, even in the midst of trials. Lamentations 3:24 emphasizes that our portion and peace come from trusting in the Lord.

The peace that comes from Scripture is not merely the absence of conflict but a deep assurance of God’s presence.

Meditate on God’s promises and cast your worries upon Him through prayer.

Fourth, gain EMPOWERMENT through God’s Word.

The Bible empowers us to overcome challenges and live victoriously. Romans 15:4 highlights the endurance and encouragement we receive from Scripture.

God’s Word strengthens us to face trials, resist temptation, and fulfill His purpose for our lives.

Share the hope you have in God’s Word with others. Use the Bible as a source of strength in times of weakness.

The Bible is indeed the source of HOPE—Harmony, Obedience, Peace, and Empowerment. As we celebrate National Bible Month, may we commit to living lives rooted in Scripture, bringing hope to ourselves and those around us. | NWI
