German ambassador visits Capitol

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson welcomed at the Capitol this morning German Ambassador to the Philippines Anke Reiffenstuel, who has been going around the country to strengthen the ties and relationship between the Philippines and Germany.

Accompanied by German Embassy officials, Reiffenstuel said she wanted to see how Negros Occidental has been coping with the pandemic after 18 months.

The German ambassador also said that both governments can work together on projects involving environment protection and agrarian reform program.

Reiffenstuel said she also wanted to see some business interests in the province and is scheduled to meet with Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said.

“We were able to tell her the programs that we have implemented which allowed the province to be resilient despite the pandemic,” Diaz said.

Reiffenstuel was assigned to the German Embassy in Manila in August 2019.

She has worked in the diplomatic service since 1993. Her postings included the German embassies in Berlin, London, New Delhi, Cairo, and Manila. – MML
